Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

I had some buttermilk left over from the homemade butter that I made so I decided to use it up and make a cake.
This cake turned out light and fluffy and delicious.

Ingredients:
1 and half cup of all purpose flour
1 and 1/2 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder ( I use Green and Blacks organic cocoa)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup butter milk
1/2 cup of vegetable/sunflower oil
Pre heat oven to 175

Add all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl.

In a separate bowl add the buttermilk ,eggs, oil and vanilla extract and whisk it up.

Add a little of the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir and continue to do this until all the wet ingredients are mixed in with the dry ingredients and a nice glossy batter is formed.

Grease and flour a cake tin.

Gently pour in the cake batter.
Pop it in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
Check after 25 minutes with a skewer . If it comes out clean it's ready. If not put it back in for 5 more minutes.

Carefully take the cake out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack or a plate.

Enjoy the cake warm with ice cream , with a cup of tea or even broken up into bits and used to make an ice cream sundae :)
