Soft Jeera Puri- Gujarati snack bread

These Farsi puri's are one of my favourite snacks eaten with pickled chilis, or enjoyed with a lovely cup of Masala Chai.
They are very easy to make so please give them a go :)

Ingredients:
2 cups of plain flour
3 tbsp of semolina
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp whole cumin seeds
1/2 cup vegetable oil/sunflower oil
1 tbsp of crushed black pepper corns or 1 tsp ground black pepper.
Warm water to bind the dough together (as needed)
Oil for frying
Preparation Method:

Add all the dry ingredients into a large bowl and mix together.
Drizzle the oil into the bowl and mix with a spoon.

Gradually add warm water to form a smooth dough , shape it into a ball and leave to stand for 10-15 minutes covered.

Make small golf ball sized balls and flatten them slightly.

Heat the oil on a medium heat.

Roll out the puri's into small thin rounds .

Check to see if the oil is ready by putting a tiny bit of dough in it, if it floats to the top, it is ready.
Turn the heat to low now.
Carefully place one or 2 puri's in the oil and let them slowly fry just until they are golden brown on both sides.

Use tongs to carefully remove the puri's from the oil and place onto a plate with kitchen roll on it (to absorb excess oil)

I hope you try this recipe out and enjoy the taste :)

    1. Thanks Nayna, they were meant to be farsi puri but they turned out soft, so I'll take your advice and cook them on a lower heat :)
