Bateta Wada

Spicy mash potato in gram flour batter.



This snack is very popular In india you always see ques of people at the street vendors waiting to devour these moreish delights.
My mum and aunties use to make this when we were kids at family gatherings and I've always been a big fan :)
They are quick and easy to make and you can enjoy them in minutes.
Ingredients:
4 medium potatoes (boiled and mashed)
Gram flour for batter ( as much as needed)
Turmeric
Salt
Garam masala 
Red chili powder
Fresh coriander
pinch of salt
pinch of sugar
1 teaspoon garlic, chili and ginger paste 

Preparation Method:
For the mash , add a pinch of salt, pinch of sugar, Teaspoon of garam masala , fresh coriander and garlic, chili and ginger paste and tea spoon of turmeric and mix well.

For the batter add water to gram flour to make a thick batter and add a little turmeric powder, chili powder , fresh coriander and salt and mix well.

Roll the mash potato into balls and dip them into the batter until they are fully coated.

Drop them gently into pan of hot oil on medium heat ( do not use deep fryer) Fry til golden brown and serve with a spicy ketchup chutney.
For the chutney all you need is ketchup, cumin and coriander powder and cayenne pepper and a litle bit of garlic paste,Mix it well and enjoy as a dipping sauce.
