Stove Top Naan/Pitta bread

This stove top naan/pitta bread is very easy to make. It's lovely and soft and really tasty with dips and curries.

Ingredients:
2 tsp fast acting yeast
warm water as needed.
3 tbsp of plain yogurt
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 cups all purpose flour.

Preparation Method:

Sift flour into a large bowl.
Make a well in the middle and add the yeast, sugar and salt and add hot water not boiling to the yeast( about 1/3 cup).
Mix together.

Now add the yogurt and mix together to form the dough. Add a little water at a time if the dough is too dry.
You want a sticky(ish dough).

Knead the dough for a minute until smooth and drizzle some olive oil onto it and turn it around the bowl so that it is covered to prevent cracks.

Cover with cling film and leave to rise in a warm place for an hour or more if you wish.

Once the dough has risen , gently punch the air out of the dough and knead lightly.

Make small balls out of the dough and roll out to your desired size . It doesn't have to be perfectly round.

Heat a pan or skillet on medium heat and place the rolled out naan onto it.
After 2-3 minutes you will see tiny bubbles, this indicates that you need to flip the naan at this point.

Cook the flip side for another 2-3 minutes.

Gently press down with a spatula on both sides to ensure even cooking and place on plate with kitchen towel on it.

Repeat the process until all the dough is used up.

Serve warm with your favourite dips or curry of your choice.
Enjoy :)
